Museum Curator

Responsibilities & Duties:
Lead exhibition development, installation, and maintenance of temporary and semi-permanent exhibits
Collaborate with the Collections Manager on acquisitions, collections care, and conservation
Conduct long-range planning for exhibitions and gallery spaces
Develop and manage annual exhibit budgets
Research topics and write exhibit storylines, panels, and labels
Design exhibitions including layout, object selection, and interactive elements
Create exhibit graphics and labels
Manage projects and coordinate with guest curators, designers, and preparators
Produce exhibit-related content (handouts, catalogs, website copy, advertising materials)
Partner with the Education Department on exhibit-related programming
Oversee installation of artwork, display cases, and interpretive materials
Communicate with media and respond to public inquiries
Collaborate with the Collections and Exhibits Committee and Board of Trustees on collections management, acquisitions, and loans
Work cross-departmentally on programming and content initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements:
B.A. in Museum Studies, History, Art History, or related field required
3–5 years of curatorial experience required
M.A. in Museum Studies or related field preferred
Strong knowledge of collections management and exhibition development practices
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple projects
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Knowledge of thoroughbred racing industry and history preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Experience with collections databases (PastPerfect preferred)
Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
Salary: Starting at $62,500 annually
