Bluegrass Equine Surgery (BES), located in central Kentucky, is seeking a Seasonal Equine Barn/Recovery Tech to assist with all aspects of surgical recovery and equine patient care. This position offers hands-on experience in an advanced equine veterinary setting and is ideal for individuals passionate about horse health and the Thoroughbred industry.

Location: Lexington, KY, US
Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Assist with appointments, patient admissions, and discharges
Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients
Administer post-operative medications and manage bandaging
Assist with anesthesia recovery and patient restraint
Take vitals, jog horses for lameness exams, and help with imaging procedures
Maintain clean stalls and ensure horses have hay and water
Communicate with the Surgery Operations Manager, Hospital Manager, and veterinarians
Interact professionally with clients during drop-off and pick-up
Support barn and surgery area upkeep and cleanliness
Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Qualifications & Requirements:
Advanced understanding of equine handling and veterinary practices
Ability to safely restrain horses and foals and interpret horse behavior
Familiarity with the Kentucky Thoroughbred industry
Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Tractor-driving experience a plus
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working flexible hours as needed
Salary:
Hourly; commensurate with experience
